We were on the 15 Day Incredible Egypt With Jordan Premium Small Group Tour in Egypt when the war broke out.
In fairness i have to say we thoroughly enjoyed the Egypt trip and the guide, accommodation and sights were all superb. No complaints there.
However, Inspiring Vacations made no attempt to contact us after the war broke out, and all calls from us were met with a standard response that they were still considering options.
Things were complicated by a weird email issue we had but we learnt 3 days before that an email had gone round advising that Jordan was officially off, and they'd get back to us with options.
2 days before the Jordan leg was due to commence we were texted while in the middle of the desert and told we had 1 hour to respond to an email cancelling Jordan and our return flights with Qatar and demanding $9,000 for nightmare 40 hour flights via London and China to Sydney.
We had repeatedly made clear our offer to have them rebook us on another tour, or use whatever credit we had.
They totally ignored us. They had a single very expensive option, and it was take it or leave it.
I refused the flights, and a quick Google revealed that for less than half the price we could return via Istanbul and have a week there instead.
So we ditched Inspiring and organised our own flights and holiday.
Its now been 3 weeks and we have had zero communications from Inspiring. They keep fobbing us off with complaints about 3rd party suppliers.
I understand the Jordan trip is complicated though it appears we will be offered no refund, and at best a small credit.
What cannot be explained is the international flights. Qatar has offered full refunds for these flights and 3 weeks later we've not received a cent, nor even any explanation.
This was our first ever experience with an organised tour. We assumed that if things went wrong they'd have our back. We were mistaken.
Crises like these can be a great opportunity for companies. Sadly, Inspiring has failed this test.
