In June 2022 Ion was going door to door selling their solar panels. We informed them we weren't interested at the moment because we knew we were going to need a new roof soon. It would be smarter to get that done and then contact a solar company. The sales representative told us they would need to inspect our roof first and that would give us a good idea if we do need a new roof soon. We were then informed if we needed to lift and replace the panels for a new roof it would be free.June 2023 we discovered we need a new roof. There isn't enough ventilation in our roof and it is causing problems. The individual who inspected our roof last year would have seen that, so either they had no idea what they were doing OR the just didn't tell us that our roof needed to be replaced sooner rather than later. Instead they told us we had a solid 5 years left on the roof before we were going to need to replace it. So, finding out we need a new roof we contacted Ion to have them come remove and replace the solar panel. Ion told us we were misinformed. There is a fee to remove and replace the panels. Since we were misinformed they would at least discount the price for us. The quote they gave us to remove and replace the panels was $9,000! I then found out that in my town other houses were told that it would be free to remove and replace the panels if they needed a new roof, or it would only be $1,000 to remove them all. They will do anything for a sale. They will lie straight to your face. If you do decide to use them get EVERYTHING in writing.How can they improve? Don't lie to people just to get the sale. People can't afford that type of mistake. Lying to a customer about something so expensive is debilitating. I need a new roof which is about $18,000 and now another $9,000 to lift and replace the panels I didn't want in the first place? The people who inspected my roof told us we had another solid 5 years of roofing left. That was an out right lie. You can see there is ventilation problems.
