I was searching for a new provider for medication management who accepted my insurance, and I was hopeful about my appointment with a representative. The initial intake with the NP went smoothly, where we discussed my medications, diagnoses, and history. I felt relieved that I could access affordable mental health care as the NP expressed willingness to continue my treatment. However, things took a turn when I needed refills on my medications. Just two hours before my scheduled appointment, I received a call stating that due to the complexity of my medication regimen, I was deemed too high risk to treat and was discharged immediately. This was surprising, as there were no concerns raised during my intake or the transfer of my medical records. I was left without access to essential medication and had to return to my previous provider, incurring additional costs for a new appointment. Overall, this experience was incredibly frustrating and has been the worst I’ve encountered in seeking mental health care.
