Patronizing ‘advice’

We had booked to go to India and it was recommended that we go to Jura Health. We phoned about 5 months in advance only to be told ‘phone us at 3 months before we travel. So we arranged our initial consultation for 3rd Sept. Jura Health cancelled it - didn’t even bother to suggest rescheduling it. We eventually got an appointment for 26th Sept (our trip was 4 Nov). We were seen by Judith who started on what vaccinations we needed, whether in malarial areas and then started going on about what bank cards we were taking. What handbag etc. Keeping a copy of passport etc She really came across as patronizing as if we had never travelled before. We’ve done backpacking trips and we have plenty common sense so we don’t need anyone telling us how to go about a trip. So thdd we n she gave us a big list of vaccinations we needed to have - rabies Hep A typhoid cholera - she then asked us when we were going ‘oh you’d better get a move on with the vaccinations’ and refused to accept responsibility that Jura cancelled our appointment in 3rd Oct ‘oh we were busy’. So for the 2 of us - the vaccinations was going to cost in the region of £2000!!! We then left but the receptionist then called us to pay £70 ‘for the consultation’ - what the patronizing lecture on how to travel?? We researched further and discovered the NHS gave all the basic vaccinations for free. We got all the necessary jabs. India is full of street dogs - don’t bother them and they don’t bother you. Jura advised 1 bottle of Deet per week. We bought 8 - hardly used and we have stayed covered up. I got 1 bite in 4 weeks which is a record for me as usually I am bitten alive. She advised us getting a filtration bottle (£50 and they sell them but we didn’t buy any) - India has bottled water on every street corner! I wouldn’t waste my time (or money!!) going to Jura.
