I bought the KARUP Roots 90 chair about three years ago, seduced by its minimalist charm and “design” promise. Fast forward to today, and the green fabric has gracefully faded into a soft yellow, not from sun exposure, but seemingly from sheer disappointment. The cushions? Filled with what I can only describe as shredded moving blankets. Cozy, if you’re a cardboard box. Let’s just say: it’s a chair that dreams of being a bed, but never quite makes it.Then there’s the zipper. Not YKK (because why use the industry standard when you can be edgy?) and sewn in *inside out*. A bold choice apperantly the goal was to make unzipping a philosophical exercise. All in all, you could go to IKE* and get something similar if not sturdier for less, or spend a bit more and treat yourself to a chair that doesn’t slowly morph into a sad beanbag.Nice idea, poor execution. Still, it did teach me patience and how not to judge a chair by its press photos.
