I'm shocked after discovering how hated they are now. I have a hard time finding tough shoes with a wide enough toe box and I'm the type of loyal customer that expects consistent quality and will pay for it. I dumped ECCO when they sent their builds to Asia. Its the same story. A story of greed. I thought it was just my ability to destroy footwear, but the last 3 pairs of Targhee's I thought I loved, I glued the delaminating treads on the oldest 2. The third pair, I took back to REI. After having them from only September-Dec, they looked like they had a hard year's use. The material is all stretched out and quite frankly, I think this is what's causing the side of my left foot to have numbness. The insoles are shredded. The treads are peeling. They developed these knots in the fabric that caused pain. They smell worse than usual. Rubbish. I use them for casual office work footwear and walking the dog. Unless they want to send me a free pair to prove they've been returned to their previous quality - I won't buy another. They are now expensive lawnmower shoes. It seems to be the expected pattern of American companies.
