Ordered a K-Duo 12/15/24 from Keurig, received 12/17, placed in service 12/24. Desired to replace a fully functional older model and include the ability to brew coffee by the pot when desired. Per the instructions, ran water through the brewer, both single cup and carafe sides, prior to making coffee, but in the interest of ensuring clearance of any manufacturing residue, actually ran 5 full carafes and ~8 12oz singles with just clear water. Each of those brews, both single or carafe, had a strong plastic smell and very noticeable plastic taste. Used it until 12/31, brewing multiple coffee carafes and singles, but poured out the products each time due to the smell and taste, defaulting back to the older Keurig for a reliable brew. Additionally, overnight 12/29-12/30, the curved black plastic "facia band" displaying the Keurig brand name (on the single cup side) popped loose at its upper right corner. Per the website, phoned customer service 12/31 to coordinate a return/refund and encountered a very polite representative for whom English was a second language. Through a challenging conversation, explained the issues. Was placed on hold several times while she consulted with others; a replacement brewer was discussed/offered, but then was asked if I'd be willing to run vinegar through the brewer to potentially improve the brew. Declined and asked for return info/details. Was advised return shipping cost was our responsibility; I'd seen that on their site, but thought they might cover shipping for a defective brewer... Ended up paying $70.93 (had ordered several accessories), but glad get it out of the house. Own both a Keurig single cup brewer and large reservoir model, neither of which had this issue - completely disappointed at the quality of this new product and their very poor customer service. Paid $99.99 for the brewer, added several accessories, total of ~$160 including shipping. Return shipping = ~45% of the overall price... I suppose it's possible this issue (plastic smell/taste) is unique to the specific unit we received, but combined with the unit coming apart at the facia band, would absolutely not recommend this product.
