I arrived at the Klass Wagen agency at Madeira Airport with a perfectly valid Visa card, in my own name and as the main driver.The card was refused for a rather surprising reason: it allegedly did not show my “full name”, only one first name, whereas my identity card includes several.As a reminder, a bank card almost always displays only the usual first name and the family name. This difference is completely normal and well known to all banking institutions. Despite this, the deposit – and therefore the rental – was blocked.The result: wasted time, unnecessary stress upon arrival, and the unpleasant feeling of being confronted with a rule pulled out of a drawer at just the right moment. The only solution offered was to buy their insurance, in addition to the one already paid through Booking, for almost the same price as the rental itself.Everyone can judge for themselves, but as far as I’m concerned, I would not describe this experience as… satisfactory.
