I have two open shipments with Kuehne+Nagel that remain undelivered. The sea shipment was scheduled to arrive on 5/12. As of 18/12, K+N is still unable to provide a committed ETA, advising us only to continue waiting. The air shipment was picked up, cleared export customs at origin, and placed into bonded storage on 12/12. On 17/12, we were informed that the cargo had been classified as oversized and that the freight charges would therefore need to be revised. This post-pickup reclassification is unacceptable. Cargo dimensions and handling requirements should have been validated prior to collection and export clearance. Re-rating the shipment at this stage removes our ability to seek alternative solutions and places us in a commercially compromised position. We requested repacking to minimise shipping costs but were advised that the origin office is already closed for the holidays and that repacking can only be carried out in Jan 2026. This is an internal operational constraint and should not be transferred to the customer while the cargo remains under Kuehne+Nagel’s custody.Overall, the handling of both shipments reflects serious service and commercial failures. Revising charges only after goods have been collected creates the perception of cost leverage once cargo is under the forwarder’s control, which we consider commercially and ethically unacceptable.
