I purchased a Larson retractable screen door and in less than 2 years the top portion of the door would no longer stay closed over time. The last and final time I attempted to close the top, the entire unit came apart. When I called Larson and sent pictures, they knew EXACTLY what I was referring to. Clue #1! I purchased the replacement, 80+ bucks and was told just hire a handyman and specify storm door repair. I “hired” 3 contractors who had repaired doors in the past however, the “directions” are complex and tedious the estimates would be quite high. Clue #2! Luckily they were both honest to tell me that the labor would cost almost as a new door and I appreciated their honesty. What I was astonished is how rude and uncaring customer service was. She told me I could have fixed the door myself with a video, or have a family or friend do it. The contractors were lazy and didn’t want to do the job. She told me that the door was NOT defective although I told her I typically keep the top portion of the door up and the “locked” position and it should not have been opened in the first place…before the unit broke. Final clue! It took the final contractor and almost 5 minutes to push the window up and jam the “locking unit” under it to hold the window up. It’s still not completely closed but, at least the wind is coming through the screen. Beware consumers, this is an expensive lesson that I learned and will NEVER purchase or, recommend Larson doors to any other consumer shopping for a storm door.
