I would strongly advise others to think carefully before purchasing from Laura James.

I spent approximately £1000 on a dining table and chairs in October 2025, and the entire experience has been extremely disappointing from both a service and product quality perspective.

Firstly, the delivery process was chaotic. I received incorrect items multiple times, deliveries were sent to the wrong address, and I ended up with excessive duplicate chairs that I then had to store and arrange returns for myself. This went on for weeks and caused significant inconvenience.

More importantly, the quality of the dining table is completely unacceptable. Within just a few months of normal domestic use (two adults and one child), the table surface has deteriorated badly. It now shows widespread marks, heat stains despite using placemats, and general discolouration. Even more concerning, the table transfers black residue when cleaned with just water and a cloth, suggesting the finish is not properly sealed.

When I raised this, I was told this is “normal” for a black table and that I should wipe it with a microfibre cloth after each use. I do not accept this as reasonable for a table at this price point. A dining table should be durable enough to handle everyday use without visibly degrading in such a short time.

Overall, this has been a very frustrating experience, and I have had to formally escalate the matter due to the lack of a satisfactory resolution.

Based on both the poor quality of the product and the handling of the complaint, I would not recommend purchasing from Laura James.
