Huge mistake to pick significantly more expensive quote from Lawhive for my property purchase. I avoided cheaper providers as I thought Lawhive would be better. Later I found out that my counterparty (sellers) made the same mistake and also deeply regretted their choice of Lawhive, we later bonded over our shared frustration with Lawhive as we saw exactly the same behaviours on both sides.
From a rocky start when original quote was quickly revised up a few times (they apologise but know you will unlikely cancel after time passed and you are in a rush) I instantly paid and patiently waited. Lawhive will always tell you it's normal to wait very long on other parties but as it turned out it didn't have to be that way. After wasted days and weeks you would learn that something got stuck and could have been unlocked if the advise was not to just wait.
Even when all documents finally do arrive, solicitor will often need a week to "compile a report" l which is often a summary with hastily copy pasted mistakes incl wrong addresses, dates, wrong amounts etc.
It's also apparently normal for a solicitor to go on a 3 week xmas leave and after a return to be blocked out for yet another week for urgent work only.
Imagine paying for your searches in September, these being ordered very late but still generated on 16 Dec and receiving a copy finally on 29 January!
Try sending your signed contract to Lawhive, it won't just get lost in the mail a few times but they will also insist it's not unusual for 9 days to be needed before the mailroom can process it..
You will want to know that Lawhive subcontract mortgage lender activities to Woodstock Legal but under some extremely bad turnaround times so that it may take 3 weeks for Woodstock to process a document after you wanted a week for your Lawhive solicitor to process it. And if someone spells an email wrong you will only find out at the end that for 3 weeks nothing was actually happening.
Expect solicitors to not respond for a week but do respond within minutes of a complaint involving support team.
Expect solicitors to ignore your questions for days or weeks but when you raise a complaint they will respond on the same day with a very long email explaining in detail how in their opinion you are wrong and your complaint makes no sense.
Expect solicitors to spend more time convincing you that all this is normal and nothing is their fault.. than the time they spend actually doing value add work that you paid for
