I recently saw the Legacy Wills advert on my smartphone. After I had read the reviews, I thought it was quite a good will writing company. So, I recommended it to my older sister thinking that she would be helped properly to write a will. How wrong I was! This afternoon, my sister called me who was almost in tears, and told me that while she was helped to write the will by the company staff, she felt that she was being pressurised throughout the process to buy other products such as lasting power of attorney, that she didn't require. Half way through the process, the staff's tone turned into a threatening manner, telling my sister if she didn't buy this or that the will writing company would not be responsible for this or that. Obviously, there is nothing wrong with giving advice. However, when advice turned into threats and anger, the line has been crossed and this is absolutely and totally unacceptable and I vehemently condemned this irresponsible and unprofessional behaviour. In the end, my sister was pressurised to not pay for the £19.99, but also the so-called storage fee of £20 which she felt she didn't require. In total, instead of paying £19.99, she ended up paying £39.99. To my sister, her whole experience was horrendous and unsettling. To me, as the person who recommended the company to my sister, I felt utterly ashamed and angry about her experience. I hope this unpleasant experience of my sister will make other people think twice before using this Legacy Wills company to help them write to their wills.
