LegalZoom auto-renewed a $99 Registered Agent service on 01/22/2026. I tried to cancel the same day as soon as I saw the charge pending. I originally only used them to form my LLC and didn’t plan on keeping a recurring service. They said a refund wasn't possible because I filled my LLC on 1/23/2025 support team says after 30 days no refund is possible so that's how they get you after a year they will charge you if other packages you opt out of and a year later when the date you created your LLC boom charge. So they can say hey your refund eligibility ON 1/25/2025 is 30 days after that no refunds
When I asked for a full refund because I canceled immediately and didn’t use the service, they only offered a partial refund if I kept it active. I declined.
Because they refused to issue a full refund, I filed a dispute with my bank and submitted multiple complaints to the BBB and the California Attorney General’s Office. It’s not just about $99 it’s about how renewals are handled and how sneaky they are and making sure customers don't get hit with unwanted services
