I have hesitated to file a complaint, but the account opening procedure has become excessively complicated. Opening a bank account in the UK should be straightforward and efficient these days. However, the company's processes feel outdated and overly demanding. After initiating the application through the app, I never received a clear response. Instead, the team repeatedly reached out via email for additional documents, such as my Tax Self Assessment and even a passport image, even though I had already submitted valid government photo ID. The company claimed these requests were necessary under UK regulations, but they seem to exceed what is reasonable. This goes against the expectations of the regulatory authority, which states that firms should not collect excessive or irrelevant customer information. Due to this unreasonable process, I now plan to file a formal complaint with the relevant ombudsman and seek compensation for the time and inconvenience caused.
