I had Liberty 🗽 Mutual as a homeowner for over 18 years. When a neighbor tree fell on my back deck they paid for the repairs of 3,000.00 minus the deductible. My premiums cost 2,800.00 per. Year. I was paying via direct deposit monthly from my personal account because my mortgage has been paid off. Every year I take my grandchildren on vacation when I went to check my account I was missing almost $5,000.00 dollars. Apparently during my renewal this company took it upon it self to increase my homeowner premiums to over $8,000.00 dollars without getting my approval for this. Now once I asked why did my premiums jump so high and how can they do this without my permission. Their response was creative to say the least. They stated due to the on going tariffs my home would cost to much to repair if something happened because of the price of WOOD. Then stated in the contract I agreed to the year economic cost change. Yearly economic cost change usually is $50.00 Yearly increase. Never in 18 years did it jump $5000.00. Needless to say I changed homeowner policy to Alstate. In the past Liberty 🗽 Mutual was a reliable company. Now I dont find them trustworthy. Beware of the fine print and make when looking for homeowner insurance you have them put in writing if there is a premium change they Must get written approval prior. Now that being said at Alstate my home owner insurance is back down to $2700.00 with a $1000.00 deductible for $545,000 coverage if something happens to my home. Plus tons of other stuff was included in this price they cover, personal injury, workers comp, personal property lose, structural damage, and sewer. Inaddition they gave me a person to over see my account with a direct number to handle any future claims or questions i may have. Loving Alstate already. In my opinion I gave Liberty 🗽 2 stars because at one time they were a reliable, professional and had good customer service. Unfortunately thats not the case anymore.
