I visited a local salon for a paid consultation and left feeling quite let down. Despite confirming my appointment through messaging, it seemed they were unaware of my visit when I arrived. For the fee I paid, I expected a thorough consultation. I had clearly stated my uncertainty about the type of wig I needed and was assured of assistance. However, the staff member who helped me lacked the necessary knowledge to advise me on color, length, or style. There were no color samples or matching guidance, which left me feeling even less confident about ordering a wig than before. The shop's appearance was also disappointing; while it looked lovely online, the actual space was messy, with hair on the stairs and wires hanging from the ceiling. Additionally, it was quite cold inside. I booked my appointment because their website claimed they could customize wig caps, but when I mentioned my concerns about the fit, I was told, “you can’t see it,” which was not reassuring. Overall, for the price of the consultation, I expected much more expertise and guidance. I did end up buying a ponytail since it seemed nice, but I could have easily ordered that online without an in-person visit. Overall, it did not meet my expectations — be cautious, as things aren’t always as they seem on social media.
