LinkedIn has always been monkeys in a suit.
Now that I have given into it the last 5 years, it is utterly exhausting.
Everything feels staged and superficial. Every post is a humblebrag disguised as wisdom. Layoffs get spun into “exciting new chapters” and authentic voices are drowned out by people chasing likes and clout. Seriously, did I mention superficial?
It is nonstop commercial spam. Recruiters blast copy-paste messages. People push webinars or life-changing coaching. There is endless self-promotion masquerading as networking and then there are the scams, fake jobs, sketchy investment schemes, and bots flooding your feed with AI-generated nonsense.
The culture is petty too. Engagement pods, obligatory “Congrats!” comments to stay visible, and everyone obsessed with metrics instead of real connection.
In theory, it could be a professional tool. In reality, it is like a polished, awkward dating app for professionals, where everyone is hustling and performing for attention in a way that is utterly pathetic and rather nauseating that whatever is left of humanity... has come to this.
