As an LISW from Ohio and having worked in Alcohol and Drug for 10 years, I found many concepts truly helpful re addiction and co-dependency. She is quite knowledgeable re the connections between thought and feeling as well as C-PTSD concepts and family dysfunction. However, the minute she began to preach religion, accepted the notion of empaths, and washing away the "dark parts" of ourselves, I had to let her go. While I do share some personal information with my clients regarding a shared event, I never bring religion or spiritual world view into session unless it is a part of a cl internal way to self soothe. (morning prayer routine, walk in the woods to commune with Mother Earth, etc) It is used as part of their own wellness plan. I never presume a cl is a particular religion; it would be unethical for me to do so. She seems to be much like a slick "snake oil sales person" with just enough information to seek out the weakest among us.
