Secure Legacy are fine if you want a simple will at £47.00 but be aware that they will always ensure that payment is taken upfront. I wanted a will that needed a trust fund set up and that incurred an additional cost of £125.00 that was taken immediately but that is not the worse thing. While the will writer was talking to me he used a very hard sell for me to take out a Lasting Power of Attorney, sent me a video of Martin Lewis expressing the view that this would be the most important document that you could ever have and the will writer reinforced that view and inferred that I would be foolish not take this important document out, but at a cost. The cost was a staggering £399.00 upfront of course. I asked why it was so expensive and he told me that there were many pitfalls and it was a complex procedure and that they would take care of everything. At no time during this intense conversation did he mention that this did not include the registration fees that adds another £180.00 to the cost which was not revealed to me until the forms were sent to me a few days later. If I had known that I wouldn’t of gone ahead and he knew it.
When I found out about this I asked to cancel the LPA but evidently my request was made on day 15 and they had a 14 day cooling off period that they forgot to tell me about.
My advice would be to save yourself a shed load of money, go to GOV.UK and fill the forms out yourself. It should take about an hour to fill in which makes me wonder how they can justify such a whopping cost. A tip - when filling in the financial form on section 7 they have made a preference to stop making any charitable gifts and cancelling any regular payments and an instruction to allow your “attorney” to have access to your digital devices.
I feel that this company is only interested in your money and I at 75 years old and on a fixed income feel that I have been ripped off completely. I still have the forms, unsigned at the moment because I cannot afford to register them.
From the first phone call, everything seemed promising, and we received a draft copy. However, the total costs escalated from £45 to £1237, which was supposed to cover everything as stated. I later received multiple letters regarding LPA from a government source, demanding an additional £324, bringing the total to £1561. Additionally, I was puzzled by the £149 fee for will storage. Would I recommend this service? Unfortunately, no. I suggest seeking assistance from a local solicitor, as they may offer more affordable options. My experience has left me quite dissatisfied.
Had a phone appointment scheduled for an hour. The entire process was clearly explained, and all my wishes were noted. I received a draft via email to review, followed by a paper copy for signing once I was satisfied. The upfront cost of £47 was very reasonable.
I reached out for assistance during a difficult time to align my mother’s wishes as she approached the end of life. I was met by a representative who was shockingly rude and dismissive of my concerns. It was evident she was following a script and refused to listen when I asked questions, repeatedly saying, 'if you let me finish' in a condescending manner. During such a delicate moment, I was appalled by her lack of empathy and respect. I believe this individual's behavior has severely tarnished the reputation of the service, and I cannot recommend it based on this experience.
