We purchased the Rutherford table which is described as an "oak wood" table with several mentions of it's grain and "wood is a natural material. Within one week, the table completely discolored and became wavy in texture as it if had been saturated by water. The cause? Using a laptop on its surface. The discoloration and damage is in the exact rectangular shape including the curved corner of the laptop.
When we contacted Lulu & Georgia we were offered 40% to have the tabletop repaired by a carpenter. A carpenter stated the tabletop was not wood, it it was veneer and could not be repaired.
Our designer then got involved and they will not budge off their 40% repair allowance. No new table top, no replacement , no additional monies offered.
They do not stand by their product - understandably, it is overpriced crap. We have later found that the finish will come off if a drop of water lands on the surface of the tabletop (lifting a glass off a coaster and a bead of condensation fell off and was immediately wiped off.
They must know that our table's laptop experience is not a strange, unprecedented experience but a common occurrence with their product.
Do not waste your money, you will have to spend more buying a second replacement table elsewhere.
