The process was very straight forward. We booked online through discovercars.com and opted to have the additional cover provided by them at source. This meant that no further insurance or upfront payment would be needed when we went to collect the vehicle. The man at the desk could see we have comprehensive cover, but that didn't stop him from offering us to "pay an extra £200 now and you will pay no excess if you have an accident". We didn't need it, as it was already comprehensive. I guess many people get tricked here in to thinking its a good deal. But I won't knock a star down because I fully anticipated him making offers for cash payments, they always do! The car was close enough to the airport, and it was a dream to drive. We went for the smallest cheapest vehicle, and still it had all the mod-cons, and was light and responsive. Returning the vehicle, they looked around to see what the condition was and were satisfied we didn't damage anything. Not extra fees, just drop off and leave. Overall it was the most positive experience I've had to date with car rental and would certainly recommend others to use them based on this.
