Locked out of my Gmail account despite providing the right password and using the same device I always use, simply for refusing to add my phone number as verification (how can they use this for verification when I never gave them a phone number in the past?!). This also locks me out of using other online platforms for which I used this account, which is hideous. This is not what I agreed to when I got the Gmail account. And as I can't get in, I can't change my email address for the other services for which I used this Gmail address (as they require you to confirm the change using access to your "old" email address). There's no reason why Google needs my phone number. This problem happened after clearing my browser cache/history. I will be transitioning away from any and all Google services as much as possible, which is a shame as I have over 15 years of good experiences with them.
