We bought a Miele washing machine T1 model about 6.5yr ago, expecting it to be able to run if for at least a decade. Last week, it broke down witha horrible sound as the drum tumbling. Opened the machine, we found out the flange spider part (the part that hold the drum) has been corrosive and broken into pieces. It made by alumnium and totally corrosive. Who would make a part that in contact with detergent (which has acidity) by aluminium? This is just ethically not right as the acid would react to aluminium and create gas and salt. In between the layers of the machine are full of salt because of this reaction. Poor made and wrong choice of material. Totally disappointed. We rang customer service, they said they will send technician to come and have a look for investigation, and we have to pay nearly 300aud for that. More ridiculous, no replacing part. The original part we checked online costs nearly 900aud. Miele's advertisement mention their products can last over 20yr long. What a joke.
