Roberta Coleman
Unprofessional customer service

I had been using Miles for quite a while and generally accepted the occasional bugs and app crashes. But things took a very bad turn when I was kicked out without warning – and I believe unfairly. One day, I tried to end my trip in Zehlendorf at the U.S. Embassy. The app refused to close the rental, and I assumed it was the usual app glitch (which had happened before). I later found out that the area was considered “outside the business zone” – which is absurd, since it's a central, accessible, and safe location in Berlin. No clear warning was given beforehand.I had even mentioned to a phone agent that I found it ridiculous that such a location isn't part of the business area – but instead of a dialogue, my account was permanently deleted shortly after.I had no bad intent, no rule-breaking behavior – just frustration over unclear policies and technical instability. The combination of vague maps, poor error messages, and what felt like retaliation for criticism is deeply disappointing.I could chalk this up to a petty act of revenge from someone in customer support – but in any normal, professional company, no agent would be able to carry something like this out unchecked.Perhaps the most outrageous part of this experience was receiving an email instructing me to “please refrain from further contact attempts.”For a commercial service provider to dismiss a former customer in this way – after raising a legitimate, non-abusive complaint – is both unprofessional and, in my view, legally questionable.According to the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR, Art. 15 & 21) and the German Civil Code (Bürgerliches Gesetzbuch – BGB § 241), customers have the right to request information, express objections, and communicate with service providers regarding the handling of their data and contracts. A blanket ban on communication may violate these rights, particularly when it attempts to suppress valid criticism or prevent transparency. In any responsible company, this kind of behavior from a support representative would never be allowed to happen without consequences. The fact that it is tolerated says more about the company than about me.
