It has taken me six years to get to the point where I feel i I need to write something because I am afraid that I will be retaliated against for doing this but enough is enough. To give you an idea of some of the situations recently that I have had to deal with. the landlady insisted a tree was chopped down in the garden, a beautiful big 180 foot walnut tree which then caused cracking inside the property. She was happy for me to fill in the cracks and paint however I said to her that she might want to check with the surveyor that had a look at the cracks because they may not insure it if I do it. This turned out to be the case.I had a phone call to say that the company (Ferris) were coming next day to plaster most of the rooms and paint as well as skim one of the ceilings. I had had no notice of this and as I have dogs and was told I had to be present. I couldn’t simply cancel appointments at work and so I said I would come back to them later with a date.I then receive a call from morgans to say that if I don’t give a date that day that I will be getting notice. My landlady who is 92 had said this, so instead of saying to my landlady actually you can’t do that to her, they pass the message on to me. I went back to Ferris and I gave them a date and checked what worked for them and they said they would have to let me know in the next few days because they actually couldn’t give me a date to start. I explained the situation and so they threw out a random date and said it would take five days to do the work and they would do a room at a time. it actually ended up taking three weeks and I could only use one room as they piled up furniture and covered every other room. Three weeks of work was lost because I had to be at home because of the dogs (too old to go into kennels plus it would be at my expense I was told) and I put up with noise so loud that I couldn’t take phone calls. They refused to pay for me to stay somewhere else so I was stuck in fumes, refused to pay for my dogs to go into daycare and to make matters worse, paint ended up down my sofa, on my tv, front door, all over the floor then rail of my clothing was put back against the wall that was still wet and so all my clothes were covered in paint. Three weeks of not being able to go into work so I was having to take appointments in the evenings and over a Saturday in a Sunday but apparently this was acceptable. I also had no kitchen or bathroom for most of that period and was confined to one room. I spoke to Morgan’s who said that they would take a week off my rent not three and we’re not interested in any of the damage to my property and that they didn’t want to hear another word about it.(Said in an email) Another example is that I was asked to give dates for a property inspection and could I make the dates that had been put forward? I couldn’t do the initial date and so was given a couple of other dates and agreed that I could do one of the dates and gave a time as there were no times indicated. I was then told that that time was unavailable and that if I basically didn’t cooperate, that I would incur extra charges and that they would discus this with my landlady and say I was being difficult and that photographs would be taken in every room and that I had no choice or rights as far as this is concerned. I had said that I could do one of the dates and times, but then they turn round and said they couldn’t do it . I went to head out for work a few week ago to find that I could not get out of my driveway (500 yards long) as it was being dug up and tarmaced over the following three days. It was the three days leading up to my father’s funeral where I needed to get flowers to do the coffin arrangement and groceries for people staying plus I was working. I had no notice if this once again. This sort of bullying behaviour has gone on for six years, six years of making me feel utterly like crap in my own home that I have no rights and no voice. I have raised it before with the manager and said how I feel, only to be dismissed repeatedly. It is so bad that when there are issues I don’t even say anything because there is no point and never worth the grief. Every property inspection the lady puts down damp in every room, the fact that the window seals have gone so there is water in the double glazing etc. When I have mentioned whether any of these things will be addressed I am ignored so I guess the answer is no and to be quiet and stay in my corner. I have honestly never dealt with such an appalling letting agent and I have rented properties for many years to the point that I have been looking at other properties just so I dont have to deal with Morgans and I love where I live. I rent another property and there was an issue and they literally bent over backwards to be courteous, kind, helpful and the contrast is incredible.
