We started speaking with Craig in August at which point we laid out the completion timeline (early Dec) and our Help to Buy situation extremely clearly. Craig confirmed he understood the case well and we would complete in plenty of time. The mortgage completed on 30 Jan due to multiple failures from Craig / Mortgage 1st. Craig would not respond for days and weeks, was completely misinformed about the process, and honestly was a pain to work with as we had to do a lot of the work ourselves. I asked multiple times if he knew about the Help to Buy process and he confirmed while not even knowing the basics of the RICS survey, the timeline for HTB etc. Our previous mortgage broker got it all done seamlessly with no delays but unfortunately, Craig was introduced to us by our accountant and we decided to use himthis time around. We ended up paying additional interest to Help to Buy (order of £500 or so) and higher interest to Santander on their mortgage (order of £2K).
