I received a subscription as a gift. At first I thought ‘what a lovely idea’, but the application leaves a lot to be desired.I had to fill in a questionnaire that was meant to establish my broader reading habits following which I was told the name of my personal selection agent although to this day have not had contact with him.The first book vaguely fitted the answers to my questionnaire but proved, for me at least, most put-downable to the extent that I never got past the first few chapters.I has assumed, wrongly, that my personal agent would at the very least email to ask my thoughts and to establish more precise parameters. No. The next I heard was simply a notification of the despatch of my next book. It remains to be seen if I enjoy this but I can only say that, for me, the money spent on fancy wrapping and presentation would be far more usefully employed in establishing a proper, working relationship. At present I can only describe what should be a great service as “all fur coat and no knickers”. I hope they take this on board.
