I live overseas, travel frequently and needed to renew my passport due to it being nearly full, so time was of the essence.
I was naturally doubtful that sending my old passport back to UK, for a new one to be generated and couriered back to me would take several weeks. The online application process was simple but did suggest approx. 4 weeks from receiving the old passport to delivering the new one.
I was very pleasantly surprised when I received the new passport in 8 days from giving the old passport to the couriers. 8 days door to door - 4 were transit to & from UK, and 4 processing replacement. Impressive!
I was kept informed of progress throughout the process which provided reassurance.
