I would strongly caution anyone considering purchasing from Theodore Grace.
What began as a simple $277 gold vermeil necklace purchase has turned into a dispute lasting over a year.
The original necklace arrived with a broken and missing clasp. When it was replaced, I was sent a gold plated version instead of gold vermeil — a completely different material affecting durability, colour and overall quality. This was not what I purchased.
Rather than offering a refund to my original payment method, the company limited the remedy to store credit. I accepted this in good faith to exchange for a solid gold version to avoid further breakage and staining.
However, the issues continued:
• I was quoted a different price difference via email compared to what was displayed on the website.
• The store credit calculations did not reconcile properly with what I had originally paid.
• The final “solid gold” necklace does not match its description — it is longer than specified and noticeably thinner than other versions shown.
• The overall quality is inconsistent and not what would reasonably be expected at this price point.
At this stage, the matter has been escalated to Consumer Affairs Victoria, the ACCC, and Afterpay for dispute review.
This experience has involved inconsistent representations, refusal to provide appropriate refunds, and repeated product quality issues. For a brand positioned as premium jewellery, this has been deeply disappointing.
I would not recommend purchasing unless you are comfortable with significant difficulty if something goes wrong.
