I booked an apartment at Balmoral House with My Property Host through Booking. The process was straightforward although I know this is owed to Booking and not My Property Host (as I didn't book direct but may be tempted to in the future). The first issue was the ad on Booking did not state there was a deposit due and this was confirmed by a woman I spoke to on the phone after calling this company. This was waivered which I found to be a good gesture and dealt with this swiftly. The apartment was of a decent standard, it was clean, kept heat well, and well presented although there was damp in the bedroom which seemed to get worse as I stayed (stayed for 7 nights) and there was significant wear and tear throughout that needed attending to. The outside of the property was a disgrace with piles of rubbish bags overflowing in the bin collection areas as well as rubbish scattered in and around the complex which was very off-putting but I assume this has something to do with the complex itself and/or the management of the complex, and not this company so my rating isn't affected by this although it was terrible as a guest to experience and made me question the standards of the building. Looking at reviews this seems to have been a problem for some time and fortunately it didn't extend my entire stay as it seems the management of the building arranged for the horrendous mess to be cleaned up on Christmas Eve. Getting access to the property was straightforward as I was met by someone from the company who was present at time of check-in (which is always a relief!) who showed me around and give me necessary information. Overall it was a satisfactory experience which is why I consider it to be 4/5. Had the information regarding the deposit had been transparent and visible on the ad (a very important part of paying for accommodation) I would have happily provided a higher rating. The communication through Booking was great throughout my stay from the very start to the very end and it did appear like the manager of the property/company was striving to provide a high standard. Most importantly, at least for myself, the process was largely hassle free (except for the concerns about the deposit) and it was straight forward. I booked, turned up to collect the keys, stayed for the duration, cleaned up and left - and that is how it should be!
