They promote a subscription upgrade that supposedly grants access to an emergency vet fund, but they clearly state it only covers life-threatening conditions. My puppy ingested a whole pound of bone meal. A quick web search reveals how dangerous that can be for a puppy. The “chat vet” advised against treating it as an emergency and suggested I try several of their recommendations instead. This puts my dog at risk just to avoid a payout! My emergency vet was shocked by their standards for what constitutes a true emergency. What concerns me the most is that another dog owner, less informed than I am, might delay necessary care and miss the critical time to induce vomiting, potentially leading to life-threatening complications like obstruction, bloat, pancreatitis, and dangerously high calcium levels.
