I do not travel on trains very often and when I have done I have found that the trains have usually been on time, modern and well presented. I have always found a seat just with one exception and that was due to a huge fan event and masses of people boarding the train late at night. However, the last time I found that the ticket I bought did not state the particular station which I requested. Worried I might get fined I sought reassurance from a train worker stood at the side of the train but he very assertively and loudly repeatedly refused to answer my question stating that the train was leaving imminently so I had to get onboard or forget it. Seeing as I had bought the ticket and obviously wanted to go I reluctantly backed down but was astonished how a paying customer could be treated in such a way. The train consequently did not depart for at least another five minutes. I was relieved to find the ticket was okay when checked in another rather offhand manner. That unnecessary negative experience will seriously influence whether I choose to travel by train in future and I have not done so since.
