3 weeks ago I was rear-ended by a driver with Nationwide. He contacted them the day after the accident and admitted he rear-ended me. They stated they had to wait for the police report 'in order to establish liability', which in PA can take 2 weeks. The agent also stated that their insured was also saying that I rear-ended the person in front of me before he rear-ended me. Totally untrue-he hit me and I rear-ended the guy in front of me. They refused to pay for a rental car or move forward with paying for even the rear of my car. I checked daily for the police report and paid for a copy online, then emailed the Nationwide agent and asked again about having my car fixed. She said she didn't have the report so I emailed it. It is now almost 3 weeks and they finally agreed to pay for a rental. They told me they would pay for a large SUV like mine and it would be available from Enterprise today. Enterprise called and said they would pick me up at 2:30 pm to get my car. When we got there they stated they had no 4x4 suv, and I could instead have a mini van OR a car with a cracked windshield. I called the Nationwide agent and he said it wasn't their fault, they had no control and he laughed while saying so. LAUGHED. After waiting as Enterprise called around, we had to drive 25 minutes to another town to get the rental. So after almost 3 weeks, my car is STILL not repaired, OR even scheduled, and I have to pay $30/day for the rental for loss of rental income charge should their car be damaged while I'm driving it. As per my insurance agent, NO auto insurance in the US will cover that cost. In my 50 plus years of driving I've dealt with a lot of auto insurance companies, and Nationwide is BY FAR the shadiest and worst. They are ONLY on the side of their profit margin.
