I spent six blissful days at my first Nectar Flows yoga retreat in February 2026. Located in Sri Lanka at Kurulu Bay on Koggala Lake, ten minutes by tuk tuk from coastal Ahangama Beach, this was the perfect location and experience to commence my Sri Lankan adventure. As a 70 year old, looking to do something meaningful and special for myself, it was the perfect start to a dream holiday.Nectar Flows comprises Amy and Janet, beautiful, truly kind, genuine and compassionate people, both highly skilled yoga teachers, who also love to laugh, and connect through fun. The yoga was accessible for all ages and abilities. I never felt out of my depth and am not by any means a highly experienced yoga practitioner. Amy and Janet gently and seamlessly offered modifications and enhancements to each participant as needed. Although perfectly relaxed throughout, they had planned and orchestrated the retreat in such a way that the participants had everything they could want or need. They were also available at all times for any support needed. Even the music that accompanied each class was superb, thoughtfully chosen, and access to provided later. The schedule was perfect: early chat, coffee or tea, nuts and fruit, then two hours active yoga in the morning was followed by a superb brunch, a daily choice of activities e.g. outing, cooking class, surf lesson etc. (or do your own thing), and two hours of Yin in the evening prior to a equally delicious dinner.Participants, male and female, of varied ages and backgrounds were without exception, delightful people seeking peace, quiet, fun, yoga, food, adventure, and respite from busy lives. The food prepared by the Sri Lankan chefs, was superb, mostly vegetarian and pescetarian and including the most delicious fruits I have tasted. All meals were served in a superb, open to the pool and garden, kitchen and dining area. The cooking class was brilliant, easy to follow and delicious to eat afterwards. Nectar followed up by providing the recipes we cooked. The accommodation was five star in all its iterations. Mine was a single ensuite treehouse in the jungle. Spotless with air-conditioning, fans, a mosquito net, very comfortable bed with high quality linen, a fabulous bathroom and verandah overlooking the pool below.I will not hesitate to do another Nectar Flows Yoga retreat in the future. Although not inexpensive, you absolutely get what you pay for, and more. I highly recommend Nectar Flows anywhere in the world. I am so grateful to Amy and Janet for the exquisite experience.
