Do not use this company !!

Do not use this company !!I put a £2000 deposit on a £20k caravan I was led to believe was in good condition with no issues on our initial viewing. Upon collection I had it inspected by a friend who Is a caravan dealer himself to make sure the caravan was as described by Mike and his company ( this is our first caravan so had no Idea what to look for) and upon his findings found damp repairs to the from window along with blue damp staining under the sofa area. Peeling and mismatched wall coverings. No habitation check when asked to provide one on collection which you would think was standard when buying a caravan worth 20k. Last service was 4 years previous also so had no idea If the caravan had been checked and more importantly safe for me and my young family . We decided as there were issues we were not made aware of and the lack of basic safety checks we no longer wanted to buy this, our first caravan with clear indications of damp, no safety checks and no current service and was told by Mike he would return my £2000 deposit. This was 8 weeks ago and I have been ignored, Letters sent and no response.Mike blocked my mobile number and whatsapp to stop all communication. We even offered to accept half of the deposit to cover any of his costs and this too was ignored. We have now applied to small claims court to retrieve our money for a caravan that was unchecked, not serviced and was mis sold to us as it wasn’t as described and clearly had major damp issues that was not disclosed to us when taking our deposit.Steer well clear of these con men.. be warned!!!Details below why it is so important for the dealer to provide a habitation check....( maybe not providing this like most other dealers do is simply masking hidden problems they do not want the potential customer to see)Yes, it's highly recommended, almost essential, to get a habitation check (or pre-purchase inspection) when buying a caravan, even from a dealer, as it's not legally required but crucial for identifying hidden issues like damp, gas leaks, and electrical faults, protecting your safety, warranty, and resale value. Think of it as a thorough survey for your holiday home on wheels, checking gas, electrics, water, dampness, and structure to prevent costly surprises and ensure safety. Why it's important:Safety: Checks for gas leaks, CO poisoning risks, electrical hazards, and fire risks.Damp & Water Ingress: Identifies hidden damp, a major issue in sandwich-built caravans, before it becomes severe.Warranty & Value: Maintains warranty validity and enhances resale value.Early Problem Detection: Catches small issues before they turn into expensive repairs. What's included (typically):Gas system inspection (safety certificates).Electrical system check (mains & leisure battery).Water system check (taps, pumps, tanks).Damp check (moisture levels in walls/floor).Bodywork & ventilation checks.
