Review Time
Some very funny material and super talented cast. But it feels a more like an Off Broadway show than a Broadway show. Four famous people sitting in chairs and telling and acting out several stories, a lot of the time reading from the script. Some of the stories worked better than others for me. It felt a little tiresome at a few points. But other parts were quite brilliant.
The show was great. The singing and dancing was tight and smooth. The music and singing are outstanding. How an actor can keep up Satchmo’s voice throughout the entire play is amazing. My only negative comment was that the theatre was inexplicably hot. It was cold outside the theatre but it was steaming in the balcony. Honestly had to strip down to an undershirt. don’t know how the actors could have stood it especially with all the high energy dance numbers.
