Nextdoor was originally intended to be a social media platform that fosters community engagement and facilitates easy information sharing among neighbors. Unfortunately, it has strayed significantly from that mission. In my experience, it has become:A platform where users are often criticized or berated for commenting on posts outside of their immediate neighborhood.A space where individuals frequently request handouts rather than seeking solutions or offering mutual support.A service that compromises user privacy — despite using a fictitious name, I began receiving unsolicited emails addressed to that name from companies I had no prior interactions with.An environment with ineffective moderation — during my time as a moderator, I observed widespread bias and a lack of accountability, with many moderators failing to act on clear violations of community guidelines. After deleting my account for a second time, I have decided not to return. In its current state, Nextdoor no longer offers the positive, community-driven experience it originally promised.
