We faced a serious and alarming breach of safer sleeping protocol involving a nanny introduced to us by the service. Our 6-week-old daughter was left propped up on a pillow sleeping on a sofa, once while the nanny left the room for several minutes, and again while the night nanny slept nearby. We only discovered this by chance during the night. At the time, the nanny was being compensated at an enhanced rate to remain awake due to the baby's medical vulnerability. Unfortunately, we were deeply disappointed with the agency's response. They initially downplayed our complaint, forcing us to escalate it to the official safeguarding body. After that referral, the outcome was substantiated, and both the nanny and the agency were required to undergo additional training. This only occurred after external intervention. This experience highlights a concerning lack of accountability and oversight; the agency did not take safeguarding seriously until compelled to. We share this review not out of anger, but to inform other parents that not all agencies uphold the standards they claim to maintain.
