I used Nochex for a number of years to take payments for my legitimate hosting business without any issues. Then, completely out of the blue, my account was closed because my business was suddenly deemed “too high risk”. No meaningful warning, no constructive dialogue, just a blanket decision.What makes this especially frustrating is that, after reading more recent reviews, it appears Nochex has since dramatically shifted its stance on what it considers “high risk”. There are numerous reports suggesting they now process payments for organisations that look, at best, questionable - including entities masquerading as councils or government bodies. The irony isn’t lost on me.From the outside, it feels like legitimate small businesses are easier to drop, while more dubious operations are tolerated, presumably because they’re profitable. That may not be the intention, but it’s certainly the impression their actions and current reviews give.Sad to see how far standards seem to have slipped. If Nochex truly takes “great care” when vetting merchants, it’s disappointing to see so many reports here from people who appear to have been scammed by organisations using your platform.That contrast - legitimate long-standing businesses being labelled “too high risk” while questionable operators seem to pass checks - is the reason I felt it was worth adding my experience, even after all this time.
