The washroom/toilet on the living room floor was out of order. The owner and his partner did not have the problem sorted out. The washroom was a mess(we have pictures). The leak was major and it affected the electrics in the rooms below the living room level. In 3 out of 5 rooms, power points were out of order, room lights were not working, air-conditioners were not working - and it was cold. They did not check after the plumber had repaired the leak. The waste water that leaked from the cistern had probably shorted a number of power circuits. BUT washing machine cable had to be re-routed. Horrors!Light bulbs were randomly blown and not replaced. Our washroom/toilet light in the master bedroom was blown the whole time we were there - we had to shower and use the toilet in the dark. How did they think they could rent this place out with an electrical problem. The owner calls it a minor issue, we don't think it was.The owner was unreasonable. They would not call an electrician because it was a weekend, they wanted to call the electrician on Monday after we were due to leave for home, how bizarre! Only after we insisted did they agreed to call in an electrician BUT they wanted us to supervise the electrician. We were on vacation, we did not want to spend our time doing this as it was a major electrical fault. While the owner and his partner were generally polite and attentive, they were ineffective with only pleasantries.They should have not rented out a sub-standard apartment when the services are not working!In the AirBnB listing, the owner describe himself as an investment portfolio manager living in Cape Town, so we did not expect what we experienced.
