I went to the OneMain office near me to completely pay off my loan on October of 2023. Before this day I had never been late on a single payment. I asked the clerk MULTIPLE times if this was all I owed and nothing else would come out of my account and she assured me multiple times that my account was paid in full. I paid over 11,000 dollars. I still have the receipt. Two years later we get a call saying we still owed money! We thought it was a scam because we NEVER got any mail about owing them anything! We got a letter in January of this year stating we were past 30 days late! I called and somehow according to them we still owed! I still don’t believe we actually owed them any money! I was told THREE different totals on how much we owed which was a huge red flag! I spoke with a good person (the only good person in this company) named Clayton who said we could just pay the 456 and the account would be paid in full. I tried for three weeks to make this payment. Clayton couldn’t take it because of the department he was in. Every other person I spoke too said I owed a different amount and if I only paid the 456 I’d still owe. Clayton even said he put notes in the system and didn’t understand why I was having these issues. He finally had to three way into a conversation with me so I could make the payment. He said he’d put in a ticket and that he’d call me back when it was done. Well he called this past week and said it was done, we don’t owe anything else. Well I got a letter yesterday saying I still had to pay 40 dollars a month FOR TWO YEARS!!!! I’m so SO sick of this company!!! Not only are they trying to get even more money from me that I DONT owe, they have completely screwed my credit that I had worked on. My credit was over 700 and now it’s back down to 629. And they refused to fix it! They made MULTIPLE mistakes and continue making mistakes but REFUSE to fix my credit!
1. They told me it was paid in full in 2023
2. They didn’t even have my address so I got 0 mail concerning this
3. I’ve been told it was paid off AGAIN only to now be told I still SOMEHOW owe more money!
This is the absolute WORST company I have ever had the displeasure of working with! I had multiple things I needed to do that required good credit. Good credit THAT I SHOULD HAVE only for it to be ruined by a company that can’t get ANYTHING right!
