At first Ooma was very good. Good service, pretty good support. Then they went public and monthly fees started to creep up. (Many of them are not government fees, but created by, and into the pockets of Ooma.) After about a dozen years I decided to cancel our (premium) service. There are many VOIP services now that offer more features (like texting, using a PC or a smartphone or a tablet as an extension).
I called to cancel. I told them I no longer wanted Ooma service and was going to get rid of our Telo. It was a pain to get them to do it. They tried to sell me everything they offered. But they eventually canceled it. But the next day, I got an email saying they'd assigned us a new phone number. I was not surprised, but I was angry- I had no way to login to their website let alone use the service. And they started to charge monthly fees. I called my bank to get the charge reversed. My bank did it promptly. But Ooma continued to bill us for the monthly "fees", and I didn't notice for a few months. I called the bank again, and they provided a conditional refund, and told me that I had to cancel our debit card and get a new one. What a pain. Ooma acted dishonestly.
