I completed my Certificate III in Dental Assisting with Nadine Collins as my trainer and RPL assessor. She was very supportive, and professional throughout the entire process. Nadine went above and beyond to help me, making everything clear and manageable. I truly appreciated her guidance and encouragement.
The teachers were amazing, I want to say that before I say anything else, because they were always so helpful and lovely to deal with.
The course itself wasn’t. For a Cert 3 that is supposed to be entry level, it was not.
I have worked in the field for 2 years and if I hadn’t been, there is no way I would’ve been able to complete it.
The work was astronomical! It was far more than any of my CERT 4 qualified work colleagues had to do when they completed their courses.
Each module required multiple roleplays which were hard to get done as you required other people to step in and help.
When getting to work placement I thought I was on the home stretch but it unlocked about 9 or 10 modules you then had to go through and complete whilst trying to work.
It was near impossible for me to do both. I had to complete 90% of my work placement out of hours. Absolutely ridiculous amount of work.
I wouldn’t recommend anyone doing this course through Open colleges unless you already have some knowledge and you aren’t working and can allocate lots of time to study.

Hi, Paul did a great job informing me from a data standpoint. He gave me detailed answers on specific questions and gave time to answer them with the resources he has available.
The course was very well laid out, everything was very accessible, easy to find and to go through.
The biggest positive that I can give the course, is that of the support I received from my Assessor and the supportine, my assessor in particular was extremely, comforting and supportive and made extra time to call and work with me through issues and questions, which made the whole experience much smoother.
The reason it only gets 4 stars from me, is because I ran into a few technical issues here and there, which since have been fixed and sorted.
Open Colleges provides a fantastic learning environment. The colleges community feels welcoming and inclusive making a great place to learn and grow. I would like to say my Assessor Debra Hine is amazing . She’s always ready to support making my learning journey a smooth one. Thank you for your willingness and patience. I highly recommend.
