Once the lockdowns started

Once the lockdowns started, we became very concerned about our son Teo’s grades and his ability to carry on with his classes at his school. Our previous school was unprepared and unable to provide the same quality of teaching after moving online. We decided to call OEO, and they provided us with a full, British curriculum covering all the core and optional subjects that met our son’s every need. His grades even improved, which we believe is largely thanks to the small class sizes and excellent teaching. We can’t thank OEO enough and really think it was the best choice for us to make.

Good assistant for me!

We are from HK. Since the beginning of the lockdown last year, my children had to stay at home and have the online lessons from the school. As they just transferred to another school, their learning faced great challenge, they were even a little resistant to learning.I felt very anxious. Fortunately, we started to receive one-to-one online education by OEO in June last year. The children received targeted education and their grades improved rapidly. The point was that the teachers became the children's friends, and the children's lessons were carried out in happiness. Recently, my daughter was admitted to her favorite British school with the help of OEO. We were very happy about it.The teachers of OEO are very good, they can make the children grow up in happiness, and at the same time, the staffs are warm and thoughtful. Unconsciously, OEO has become an indispensable and good assistant for me. It has made me more confident in the education of my children.

Great school

Our daughter joined OEO just a few months ago but she is very happy. Her class is very small. Just 3 kids plus our daughter. Although Sofi is doing the last year of the primary school, she has a special teacher for each subject. All the teachers are great. They also managing to teach kids in a very friendly manner and also explaining difficult stuff in a very interesting and an engaging way. We would definitely recommend OEO school to those looking to do an online education.

The teacher brought the subject to life for my son

We signed up with Oxford Education Online during the first lockdown because I run a business that requires a lot of my attention at the computer, so I could not dedicate the time required to teach my son properly. I also did not feel I could properly teach English and was worried I would not make it very enjoyable. The teacher assigned was amazing. She brought the whole subject to life, and Johnny could not wait for the next lesson. He progressed hugely and now writes in his diary most days - his decision! My business didn't suffer and I didn't lose any customers. If there is one good thing that has come from the lockdown, it is that I now realise it is possible to operate completely remotely. My wife and I are now seriously considering this as we have always wanted to move to the Alps for a healthier lifestyle, and for our children to grow up with skiing as part of their lives. The homeschooling experience has made this feel doable. Bring it on!

Excellent option for expats

OEO came highly recommended to me by a British friend in Spain. We were living in Ecuador at the time and looking to transition from the American IB system to the British system to help prepare our children ahead of our move to the UK. As all schools in Ecuador were online anyway (due to the pandemic), it was an easy decision for us to make. However soon after making the move, I regretted not making it earlier. OEO proved an instant success with our children (aged 13 and 12) and perhaps for the first time, they viewed learning in a completely different light. It became fun, relevant and rewarding. Prior to starting, they were both reluctant to change schools and were worried about missing their friends and being in a Zoom class on their own with a teacher (at the time, there were no other students in our timezone so all their lessons were one-on-one). Yet at the end of day one, they were both thanking me for making this decision for them, and were surprised by how much fun the lessons could be. We made sure their afternoons were filled with activities so that they could socialize with other children. It proved a good balance. All the teachers were excellent and succeeded in forming lovely relationships with our children. As a result they became more engaged and less afraid of asking questions and making mistakes. As parents, we also appreciated Sarah Bacon's wide experience in education (both inside and outside the UK), as well as her valuable advice and support. In short, I can't recommend OEO highly enough, either as a full-time school or for extra support in specific subjects. I also think it's a excellent option for expats who, like ourselves, get posted around the world and don't always have access to good schools in every posting.

Great Experience

I never had a good experience with school until I started learning with OEO. I was able to pass my GCSE’s and move onto college with ease. Now I am learning Japanese and I feel like the enjoyment of learning has come back to me.

The education with Oxford Education…

The education with Oxford Education Online is truly focused on the needs of the individual child and with small classes has the flexibility to adjust to their needs. The rate at which our child accelerated with their learning in a way she enjoyed was significant. The insight you gain from the weekly updates from teachers really helps the parents to support the child but also focuses not just on their academics achievements but how they approach their work and their style of learning. The team of teachers are excellent, their energy and enthusiasm is not lost over the internet. Parent support is important with this style of learning and for our child the need to socialise became more important than when she was in a face face school environment.

A new way of learning

We discovered Oxford Guardians initially for extra lessons as we are based in Spain and cannot find specialist teachers that easily. When Covid lockdowns came and our three children could not attend school, we switched the children into a full academic school year. It felt like a big change to make, but we cannot be happier and it has drastically changed our view on what is possible with education and what is the best education we can give our children. The most important outcome is that our kids now love learning, they have been actively encouraged to become independent learners. The small class size of 3-4 children is great to allow the children to be constantly involved, talking between themselves, something that is simply not possible with larger traditional class sizes. The teachers appear to have a more peer to peer relationship, on first name basis that allows the kids to feel comfortable to discuss and engage in their classes, allowing the kids to have fun, still be kids but in a controlled learning environment. There also seems to be a priority to avoid academic stress on the children. We have a lovely personal relationship with the teachers, including weekly feedback and the ability to email or call whenever needed. There is a diverse mix of subjects and also music, We would highly recommend Oxford Education Online to anyone who is considering new ways to educate their children.
