I recently visited Attenborough Nature reserve for the first time in a while. On previous visits, payment has been made via an honest contribution which I have always paid. On this visit, I chose to park in what is known as the 'top car park' which is close to the railway and isn't actually the main car park. I was there for approx. 40 minutes! Two weeks later, I was issued with a £60 parking fine. There was no signage to say that there was a parking fee applicable to the car park and certainly no machine in the top car park which would make you think - oh, I now need to pay for a ticket!! The fee has now been increased to £120 as by the time I received the first fine letter - the 7 days had expired due to postal strikes. How on earth can they justify £120 for 40 minutes and it was a genuine error on my part. How about showing a little discretion and compassion, especially given the times we are in and perhaps just sending a warning letter first. Disgusting - oh and by the way - I will most definitely NOT be paying the fine. JOG ON!!!!!!
