Having employed Passmore earlier in 2023 for an ensuite replacement at our house, we had no hesitation in engaging with them once more when contemplating a 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom refurbishment of an apartment purchased by my 85-year-old parents.Julie the Senior Designer creates a fantastic blend between bringing her wealth of experience and acute design eye with the ability to take well intentioned ideas from clients and fusing the two into a practical and thoroughly desirable outcome. This project was made more testing by the fact that the ultimate customers had not seen the property prior to purchase, could not be directly involved in the design discussions and with the need to downsize the design challenge was a mixture of an imperative to maximise use of space and storage whilst incorporating accessibility into the design whilst avoiding the care home look. The inevitable resultant design iterations honed to the preferred design and Julie was patience itself as design feedback was received by the ultimate customers and fed into the design brief. By moving two internal walls it was possible to accommodate the required super king-sized bed and a fully functional step-free shower ensuite into the space available. Particular design consideration was given to lighting to ensure the space in both bedroom and ensuite were capable of being fully lit to maximise safety and the feeling of space yet flexible enough to create a cosy atmosphere to read or watch television by. Additional nighttime lighting was also brought to bear to ensure night time visits to the toilet could be subtly lit to allow quick sleep yet safe passage.Storage was maximised in the bedroom by the addition of floor to ceiling cupboards on two walls which were sympathetically designed to avoid the hemmed in feeling that such a storage solution could lead to in a smaller space. Subtle mobility aids were present in both rooms (attractive grab handles, wet room non step design and tasteful shower seating area) leading to a modern and stylish “EnsuiSpa” finish!The second bathroom was modified to allow for a second shower, toilet and a utility aspect including fully plumbed washing machine and tumble drier and Butler sink. Again, consideration was given to appropriate mobility aids and the resultant “UtiliSpa” is both stunning and functional with ample storage space a key design deliverable. Passmore are one of the few companies that offer a full tailored solution to kitchens, bathrooms and bedrooms and they took care of everything from design, procurement, planning, install (including project management supervision) for all trades who all work under the Passmore umbrella ensuring they take responsibility for all aspects of the work. The only area they do not offer is decorating (though we use an excellent decorator called Lewis Jackson of LJ Decorators – so feel free to ask Julie for his details if you proceed with a project with these guys). Dan worked hard from a planning aspect to ensure that the project achieved the tight and non-negotiable timetable despite some staffing availability challenges whilst never compromising the quality of the result. Rob and Joe controlled the onsite project management and made sure we were always fully appraised of the plans.The install itself was expertly executed by Darren and Andy for the bathroom install team, Dave the plasterer was very neat and precise, Martin expertly led the electrical team and added some excellent practical installation solutions to enhance useability and Jay was arguably the star of the show conducting many aspects of the bathroom work as well as owning the bedroom install. Literally nothing was too much trouble for Jay, and I cannot speak highly enough of his ability, friendliness, professionalism and desire to ensure customer satisfaction, an asset to the organisation!The project was delivered on time and on budget and when the new owners finally saw the result on moving day it is fair to say they are delighted with the result. The fact that they already feel that their new apartment is now their new home is due on no small part to the expertise and dedication of the team at Passmore.Well done to all and a huge thank you from us all.Julie, Jay, I guess next stop will be a new kitchen at our house – see you on the next project.
