Avoid this company at all cost

Avoid this company at all cost. Nothing but a nightmare experience dealing with this crooked company. We make a reservation on a property, whereby the usual process was fairly normal. However as things progressed, sales staff wouldn’t reply to important queries, would return phone calls or emails, make false promises on site. Generally an awful service throughout. In addition to this, we were being put under pressure to exchange quickly, therefore we were doing everything possible to get our mortgage application sorted and completed. We achieve this within their time frame, while updating them at all times. But then days after sorting this out and going to the cost of a valuation. They delayed our move by 8 months. Making our mortgage application no longer valid and costing us money in the process.Staff promised that this fee would be paid back to us but this has never happened. The valuation itself was eye opening, they valued the property at £399,999 when places for people where asking £440,000. When I raised questions about this, they were ignored. Do not fall for the trap that shared ownership is a good scheme to get involved in. Especially with this disgrace of a company. Poor staff, poor management, awful service and full of lies. Complaint to the regulator is on its way. Update 18/07/2025After the manager for the site contacted me, she made the claim that she never stated that they would pay the £150 to cover the cost after they caused a delay of 8 months making our mortgage invalid. After providing the evidence showing this, they still refused to pay the money. Therefore, I wrote an email stating that I would take legal action and suddenly I am threatening and abusive. None of which is true, I haven’t used any threatening language. See emails below:“ Hi Fran,I’m honestly shocked and disgusted that you are taking this line. I have several emails asking when the money would be paid to us, after a phone call confirming that you would be refunding the payment.Advised by Mandy to not cancel our mortgage agreement even though she knew that our build was delayed by 8 months. YOU. Pushed Rachel and I to get everything ready for exchange, with us paying this fee, only a week before you decided to delay. Please find attached proof of payment for our valuation fee. Please also find a letter attached of our legal intention to recover the £150 from you.In addition to this, I have already left a bad review on trustpilot, these bad reviews will continue to social media, public forums, media and local press should you continue to refuse to put right the mistakes you have made. In addition a complaint will be made to the housing commission, as well and financial authorities. If the payment is made to us by the 31/07/2025 I will remove my review on trustpilot.Kind regardS”“ Dear Christian, We must stress that threatening behaviour is unnecessary and unproductive and has been noted. We acknowledge your frustration in the build delay but maintain that you need a mortgage offer to Exchange within the timeframe and this is a normal part of the new build process, as previously stated. We have no evidence that you were offered a refund for the initial valuation fee, only a subsequent fee, however, in order to bring this to a close, we will pay the £150. This will be paid into your Nationwide FlexDirect account ending 472. Please understand, that this is not an admittance of fault and that we wish not to have dealings with you in the future. Best wishes Fran”They have also taken the childish route to contact a 3rd party they use for marketing to ensure they have no dealings with us. The funny thing is, we don’t care, I will never use countrywide or places for people again. It just shows their utter pettiness in the whole thing.“ Hi Charlie, Helen and Katie, Just to let you know, we have requested that Christian Price does not make contact with Places for People in the future. Just in case he comes to you, we will not have any dealings with him Many thanks Fran”Laughable experience
