I have just renewed my policy, because I’m not well enough to mess about looking for alternatives. I wish I could have moved though:
I was incredibly let down by the company last year when I tried to make a claim - it is all done online and there is no opportunity to talk to anyone. The questions are too vague and don’t allow for explanation. I had rainwater pouring through my roof at the time, and initially I was given a date of a week’s time before an assessor would even call, and the day after that before the drying team would come out! I was in pieces and could not wait another week (Im disabled and live alone) so in the end I went ahead and got a company in to do the repairs to the roof.
It ended up being a major job because there had been damage from several named storms and all batons and some of the wood of the eaves needed replacing, and further support adding to the roof structure itself. It cost over £38,000 in the end.

I was given less than £100 from Policy Expert, to pay for redecorating the bedroom ceiling- the assessor who eventually came out said I should put that claim in straight away, and then deal with the costs of the roof repair separately, but when I went ahead with this, the claim was just automatically closed! I did as advised - I even asked him if I should wait until the whole roof repair had been assessed, (he didn’t even take photos of the repair!) but he said no -
“Put this through straight away - they never pay out for storm damage to a roof - it’s always put down to wear and tear, but you can try that afterwards”. Well I couldn’t, because the computer claim system just closed the case.

I feel so badly let down. Insurance is basically a legalised protection racket! This has broken me. I am so afraid of what the future might bring, because I have lost my financial safety-net, and am now in debt!
Why do we pay for insurance at all?!

I could not in all good conscience recommend this company to anyone else!
