I ordered a home delivery as an emergency as I was running out of essentials, the weather was very bad, I am an elderly lady suffering from arthritis, and the other local supermarkets had no delivery slots available. The first thing to note is "You will not be disturbed when the delivery is made." Why not, especially if your order includes frozen items?I live in a second floor flat with a long path to the front door and although I looked out for the delivery van I didn't realise it had been until I saw the message, 1 hour after the delivery was said to have been made.I checked at the front door, no sign of my shopping. I called the contact number. The adviser said the delivery had been made and there was a photo on the confirmation email that had been sent to me, this photo would not open. They resent the photo which showed the order had been left at the wrong house. Eventually the adviser checked the address, which was next door to mine, another converted Victorian house which has a car park instead of a front garden. Most of the people in that building are out at work but fortunately I was able to get in and find my shopping, which could easily have been taken by a dishonest person.I think what probably happened is that the driver parked in the car park next door, in an area which I can't see from my flat, and just left my shopping there instead of going to the trouble of bringing it to my address. Having discovered my shopping I then had to bag everything, including heavy items like milk and juice, and carry it all the way round to my building then up four flights of stairs to my flat. I was stressed, exhausted and in quite a lot of pain by this time.On checking the food, I noticed the frozen prawns I'd ordered to be used in the future had begun to defrost (and of course they cannot be refrozen), the bananas were in a very poor condition, the sandwich baguettes had been replaced by sub rolls and the chilli sausages had been replaced by bramley apple sausages, which I already had in my order and didn't need a second pack. The main problems with this service are that if the driver doesn't even ring your doorbell, you're not aware that your food has arrived until you see the confirmation message or email, which in my case was an hour later. Also, you are unable to return any unwanted items, as you can with other store deliveries, as you never get to see the driver face to face. I have been given a £10 gift card by way of apology and the adviser was as helpful as possible, but as a result of my experience I will never use this service again and would not recommend.
